It’s the middle of the Pride Season and so far I’ve gone to one, for various reasons.
Of course I’d love to go to different pride events in different city for the sake of traveling to see different parts of the country.
However, the thought of going to another city for pride, is tiresome. Energy-wise.
Pride is fun, I have to admit. It’s a fun event for those who has never been to pride before, and also symbolic for people who is Gay, especially the young ones.
Pride is….
…A big event for all the gays come together
…A big event for all businesses to promote their products and brand to LGBT clienteles
…A big event for LGBT artists and performers to showcase their works
There are many positive vibes and reasons about Pride.
But Pride is also….
…Another excuse to get party
…A “limited-time” only event where one has more men to choose to have sex with
…A justified reason to get drunk
There are many more examples why Pride has just lost its spirit, lost its meaning.
That’s how I felt. May be it was because I live in big cities, never lived in a rural small town, so despite the social attitude is split towards the whole idea of homosexuality, I take the acceptance of being Gay for granted. One easily forget all the things that predecessor went through in 70s.
But why am I feeling that way? I just don’t feel IT anymore. Year after year, you see same things again and again, and begin to wonder what’s next? Where are we, this generation, bringing pride to?
or is it simply because like in the lyric that asked “What have you done today to make you feel proud”? I haven’t done anything yet to make me feel proud as being a gay man, so I don’t have any pride to show off?
or is it because pride is just another series of endless party going on, and one can’t handle all of them, getting tired energy-wise at the end, so one can’t feel what pride means?
